Careers

** REGRETFULLY ELEVATOR ONE DOES NOT HAVE ANY POSITIONS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. PLEASE CHECK AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. THANK YOU. **

Elevator One Inc. prides itself on having some of the most highly-trained elevator mechanics in the industry. The typical Elevator One mechanic has a college electrical technician or technologist diploma and is both mechanically and electrically adept. Elevator One provides opportunities for continuing education with both periodic in-house night school and trade specific schooling.

New mechanics-in-training would assist mechanics in the installation, servicing and maintenance of elevators. Promising candidates would be registered as apprentices and undergo the four-year apprenticeship training program which would include a six-month government-sponsored schooling term at Durham College in Whitby, Ontario. By the end of the apprenticeship period, mechanics-in-training will write the government exam to receive their Elevating Devices Mechanic Class A license (EDM-A). Thereafter they will pursue a career as either an elevator construction mechanic or an elevator maintenance and service mechanic, based on their abilities and interests.

The elevator trade today is challenging because it requires mechanics to service elevators ranging from those built early last century with primitive relay logic to microprocessor controlled units being installed today. Elevator mechanics need to be well rounded, utilizing electrical skills, computer skills as well as hoisting, rigging and other millwrighting skills.

Remuneration for senior elevator mechanics is exceptional, both in terms of hourly wage and also the exceptional benefits that Elevator One offers. A career as an Elevator Mechanic is extremely rewarding especially for those with a keen interest in motors, electricity and a hands-on approach to work who enjoy being challenged with new things to learn throughout their careers.

At Elevator One, we believe in creating an environment that is both challenging and rewarding so that all of our employees will want to stay with us as part of our team for their entire career.
