Elevator One has a wealth of experience in all types of elevator modernizations. From simple cab upgrades to complete control system and elevator cab modernizations, Elevator One has the solution that you are looking for.

Cab Upgrades

This is basically a cosmetic upgrade to your elevator interior. This type of modernization can include:

  • New elevator push-button fixtures
  • Relocation of fixtures to comply with handicapped requirements
  • Resurfacing of the elevator cab panels
  • Replacement of the elevator cab panels
  • Replacement of the elevator ceiling and lighting
  • Installation of an emergency telephone

Door Operator Upgrades

The mechanism that moves the doors on an elevator will eventually wear out with time. If the parts required to refurbish the operator are no longer available, replacement of the operator is normally required. The newer door operators also give superior door performance to the old style operators. This type of modernization can include:

  • Replacement of the existing door operator
  • Replacement of the door reopening devices (safety edge or dual-beam light ray) with a light curtain, which protects passengers from being struck by the door

Hydraulic Cylinder Replacement

In-ground hydraulic elevator cylinders are now protected from corrosion by encasing the cylinder in PVC and filling the PVC with a liquid which displaces water. This prevents corrosion of the cylinder. In the past, this protection was either not used, or it was provided in a manner that deteriorates over time. If your hydraulic elevator is over 20 years old, and has an in-ground cylinder, you have significant corrosion problem risk. Cylinder corrosion related failures have caused a number of fatalities and serious injuries in Ontario. The solution to this risk is to replace the cylinder with a new cylinder that incorporates the new corrosion protection technology. If you are unsure about whether it would be prudent to replace your cylinder, please feel free to contact us.

Hydraulic Pumping Unit Replacement

If your hydraulic elevator pumping unit is showing signs of old age, you may need to replace part or all of the unit. Signs of old age range from frequent re-leveling of the elevator to erratic stopping at the floor to out of level stops. This type of modernization can include:

  • Replacement of the entire pumping unit (tank, motor, pump, and valve)
  • Replacement of the control valve
  • Replacement of the pump and motor

Controller Replacement

Elevators are expected to last a long time, but after a while some parts wear out and are no longer available. At Elevator One, we stock a large number of components for older elevators, but we can't stock everything and many parts become obsolete. After a while, the only solution to ongoing elevator service problems is to replace the obsolete relay-logic based elevator controller with a new state-of-the-art control system. We have the expertise and knowledge required to replace virtually any control system. From lifts for the physically challenged to high-speed passenger elevators, we will supply the right controller for you. Please call us to find out what we can do to meet your elevating needs.

Machine Replacement

After a number of years, a traction elevator machine may sustain sufficient degradation that it may need to be completely replaced. At times a partial replacement is warranted, such as a conversion from a DC machine to an AC, where the motor is replaced. The MG set may be discarded and an AC drive used. Some of the older machines are sufficiently robust to give great service for many more years even after 30 to 40 years of hard use. Other older machines have needed replacing long before this amount of time. Our vast experience with many types of equipment allows us to recommend the solution that will ensure that your money for a modernization is well spent and that the modernized elevator will give many many years of reliable service.
