New Faces of Elevator One – Opening Doors – Elevator Maintenance

We were excited to see Gabby De Sousa and Samantha Pauze from our Elevator Maintenance Department featured in a recent Elevator World magazine article!
After participating in an inaugural Ontario program which encouraged women to pursue a career as an Elevating Devices Mechanic (EDM), Gabby and Sam joined the Elevator One team as apprentices and are now integral pieces of our maintenance department.
“We are really pleased with the reaction we have received from our customers when Gabby or Sam come to their site to perform maintenance services”, says Elevator One President, Doug Guderian. As a father of four young ladies himself (the eldest of which is studying Engineering at the University of Waterloo), Doug was excited to open doors for women in a trade that has been dominated by men. “Both Gabby and Samantha scored extremely high at elevator school and came strongly recommended to us. We felt they would be a fit with our own highly trained elevator mechanics, and that seems to be the case with these two young ladies. The feedback continues to be the same, that we have got ourselves some very professional new elevator technicians.”
